EVERY DAY IS “EARTH DAY”

Each year “EARTH DAY” is celebrated on April 22nd.
However, let’s think about it.
EVERY DAY is “EARTH DAY”
April 22nd, marks the 41st anniversary
of what many consider the BIRTH of
the modern ENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT in 1970.
It was during the HEIGHT of the hippie and
flower-child culture in the United States.
Oh, I remember it well!
The idea came to “EARTH DAY”
founder Gaylord Nelson, then U.S Wisconsin Senator,
after witnessing the 1969 massive oil spill
in Santa Barbara, California.
A rare political alignment began to happen.
Support came from Democrats and Republicans!
The first “EARTH DAY” led to the creation of
the UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
and the passage of the -
CLEAN AIR ACT
CLEAN WATER ACT
ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT
“EARTH DAY” 1970 channeled the energy of
the anti-war protest movement of Vietnam
putting environmental concerns
FRONT and CENTER!
Let’s all feel the GRASSROOTS ENERGY
under our feet!
And help BUILD a CLEAN and HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
not just on April 22nd, but EVERY DAY!
